He is saying that it is the common man who suffers at the hand of powerful governments.\r
The "I love football" at the end, I interpret as him saying that the governing bodies are killing the actual game, and what he always knew football to be.\r

He says it like this so that the media can't crucify him and make a huge negative headline about his "outspoken political views". All they can do is write about how it's "bizarre" because they don't understand the metaphors or references.\r
Look into his political activism and all will become clear.\r
